On August 20th and 21st, Logan Aluminum hosted the Novelis North American Combustible Dust SME meeting. The group consisted of members from six Novelis North American sites and members from the Novelis EHS Global team.
The meeting included combustible (aluminum) dust training, NFPA updates, shared practices, and a tour of DC4 and Remelt.
The training focused on –
- Methods for identifying areas at risk of combustible dust accumulation,
- preventive measures such as housekeeping practices, dust collection systems to control dust levels, and the use of explosion-proof equipment where necessary,
- importance of ongoing training and awareness programs for all employees and
- review real-world examples of combustible dust incidents and the shared learnings from each event.
